This evening I went to the Barnes & Noble in Alpharetta to see the one and only Laurie Halse Anderson. Let me tell you, I had a BLAST!
When I first arrived, I was deciding on which copy of Speak to buy (because my original copy is bent out of shape and worn out), when two really sweet girls helped me pick. When I returned to the shelves, I asked, "Are either of you Kelsey?" My intuition was right because the two girls were Kelsey (of Just Blinded Book Reviews) and her sister!
While we were skimming the shelves, Laurie walked in and I couldn't do anything other than smile this huge cheesy grin (pathetic, I know). I was so excited!
Then Kelsey and I met up with Vania (of Reverie Media). You'll see her in a picture below.
Next up, Laurie addressed the crowd. She was such a wonderful speaker. She kept us entertained with humor and information about her books and journey as a writer. She was just bursting with personality!
Then Laurie spent time with everyone who came to for the signing. She was so friendly and personable. She was very attentive and made me feel so special!
Soon, it was time for the evening to end. It seemed as though the place had cleared out with the exception of Vania, Kelsey, and me (because let's face it--we were having so much fun socializing with one another!). So Laurie had time for one more group photo before leaving to catch her flight, and you know we weren't going to pass up that opportunity!
I am so tickled to have met Laurie, Kelsey and Vania. All three were so much fun! And of course, I am the proud owner of pretty copies of Speak, Wintergirls, and Chains--all now personalized and signed by the fabulous Laurie Halse Anderson! Pretty amazing day!

Great pics, looks like you had a great time...
So I didn't realize you were in/near the Alpharetta area. I live in Canton and have an aunt who lives in Alpharetta :-)
You guys are all adorable! I'm so glad you had fun! Authors NEVER come to MA (and you'd think they would!)
Aw, that's so awesome!! I'm glad you got to meet a couple people. I can't wait for the Lisa/Cassandra signing here tomorrow, as I get to meet Kristi and Chelsea, the first two bloggers I get to meet.

I'm so jealous!
I didn't know you were in the Alpharetta area! I live in Rome. Not too far away at all.
Reverie: I was so excited to spend extra time with her. She was so attentive and sweet!
MssJos: Thanks! I almost forgot my camera.
Alea: We had too much fun!
Steph Su: I know, it was a double whammy! Two great things about one day!
Erika Lynn: That's so sweet!
Lenore: I was too excited. She probably thought it was the first time I'd met an author. But I must admit I was awestruck--it was LAURIE!!!
Melissa: I'm actually about 40 minutes away from Alpharetta, so not too bad.
Laura: LOL! But at least you can go to NYC for the big events. We don't get them in the south.
Lauren: I forgot you were going. That bums me out. I wanted to come so bad, but couldn't get off work.
Holly: Maybe you can come to one of the future signings and meet up with us. In two weeks, I think we're all going to see Terra Elan McVoy. You should come! (It's in Decatur)
Great pics!! That's so awesome that you got to meet her, and Kelsey and Vania! Sounds like it was a wonderful time! :)
BC: Thanks, all 3 were super sweet! I absolutely adored meeting Laurie!
