My fiance and I love to watch movies. We go to the theater, rent DVDs, watch old TV shows on DVD. You name it, we love it! The past 2 weeks, we've been to the movies 4 times, and I'd thought I'd share my thoughts on a few movies out at a theater near you!
Friday the 13th-We went to see this yesterday because I love horror films. I've seen most original movies and try to see the remakes as well. As a child, I loved Jason! He was the ultimate scary guy. Well in the 2009 version, he's still pretty scary, but the film falls flat. Don't get me wrong, I jumped several times, but for the most part, it was just corny. I understand it is a horror film, but come on, I didn't need to see that much female nudity. More scares, less boobs is all I have to say. My verdict: Wait for the DVD
Notorious-This was picked by my fiance. I am not a huge hip hop fan, but he loves it, so we've seen Hustle & Flow (which I loved), Get Rich or Die Trying, and other similar films. Notorious was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed it, and even teared up at the end. Why? I have no idea, I mean I knew he was going to die. This biopic really allowed you to see inside the lives of Christopher Wallace and his mother, and I found myself entertained. My verdict: If you like biographies or are a fan of rap music, check it out. If not, pass.
The Wrestler-I am not even wasting my time on this review, because I lost nearly 2 hours of my life watching this film. It wasn't awful, but definitely disappointing and the end just left you hanging. My verdict: Unless you are a die hard wrestling fan, forget it!
Slumdog Millionaire-I've saved the best for last! I cannot say enough about this movie. Since leaving the theater, I've told everyone to see it, and so far they've all thought highly of it as well. This movie has everything--suspense, romance, adventure, humor, and the list goes on! I must admit, I didn't want to see this film, but my fiance was determined to see all the Oscar nominees for Best Film. I am so glad he convinced me to see it (I made him go to Benjamin Button alone), because it is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time--perhaps the best ever! My verdict: MUST SEE NOW!!!
So what about y'all? Anyone have any movie recommendations for me? I'm really curious about Taken, The Uninvited, Bride Wars and Confessions of a Shopaholic. But of course, if you've seen anything recently (at the theater or on DVD) that you loved or hated, I want to know!

Bride Wars was just OK. Cute, but a little cheesy. And the two leads were great! You should see it with a couple of girlfriends (not your fiance, though, I don't think a guy would enjoy it, LOL). (: I want to see Shopaholic too!!!!!
I need to see Slumdog!!!!! So glad you liked it! I've been watching Season 5 of Nip/Tuck lately and that's pretty much it!
We saw SLUMDOG on Saturday and oh my gosh, it was SO good. I admit I had to cover my eyes a couple of times - I just cannot stand seeing people suffer. But this movie will stick with me for a long time.
I'm so glad you said that about The Wrestler - I was thinking we should try and see it, especially because we both like Marissa Tormei (sp?) but sounds like it's not worth the time or the money!
I hope Slumdog comes out here soon. We wanted to see The Wrestler, but now I'm not so sure.
Bookworm: I thought Bride Wars might be a bit cheesy, which is why I haven't seen it yet. Might just wait for the DVD. By the way, could you email me? I've searched your blog, but can't find your email address.
Alea: Yes, you must see Slumdog. I used to watch Nip/Tuck all the time, but haven't seen it in a while.
Lisa: Thanks for stopping by! I understand what you mean about closing your eyes. Some of it was hard to see. About The Wrestler, you may like it. I was a little disappointed in the fact that she was a stripper though. It was just weird for me.
Lenore: I hope you get Slumdog. It is so fantastic. As for The Wrestler, I'd probably choose a different movie unless you are a big wrestling fan.
Nip/Tuck always depressed the hell out of me but the 5th Season was pretty funny for awhile and pretty psycho good towards the end! :P
