In the mail this week I received:
The Day I Killed James by Catherine Ryan Hyde- Thanks so much Chelsea! I look forward to reading this.

Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson- A huge thanks goes to Elizabeth Scott for this one. I am a huge fan of Laurie's and I'm so thrilled to have received this from such an awesome author!

This week I bought these from Barnes & Noble:
Crowned by Julie Linker-I competed in pageants for 19 years, so anytime I find something pageant-related, I'm all over it. I haven't read Julie's other book, but just from reading the blurb and flipping through a few chapters, I am expecting a cute story!

Haters by Alisa Valdes Rodriguez-This is one of my favorite books! I love the parallelisms to Mean Girls, which is one of my favorite movies. Definitely a book I could read over and over again when I want a light, fun read.

I checked these books out of the library:

In case you can't read the titles, the books pictured are (from left to right):
Unraveling by Michelle Baldini & Lynn Biederman
The Opposite of Invisible by Liz Gallagher
Isabelle's Boyfriend by Caroline Hickey
All But Alice by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson (Yay Book Club!!!)
Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty by Jody Gehrman
Burn by Suzanne Phillips
I Know It's Over by C. K. Kelly Martin
Handcuffs by Bethany Griffin
Hot Mess Summer in the City by Julie Kraut & Shallon Lester
Alice, I Think by Susan Juby
All's Fair in Love, War, and High School by Janette Rallison
Are You in the House Alone? by Richard Peck

Looks like your library stays pretty current with young adult lit, that's great!
I envy your public library,!(:
My local library hardly keeps up with new YA titles.

Yes, our library system is HUGE! In fact, they won the Library of the Year award in 2000.
I've already put in requests for some of the YA novels releasing later this month or in January. They are really good about listening to what the YA readers want and stay pretty current.
v. jealous of Chains and The Adoration of Jenna Fox! Enjoy :)
The Day I killed James and Chains sound so good!
And I really liked The Adoration of Jenna Fox.
I am so jealous about Handcuffs! My library doesn't keep up to date, so I won't be seeing this one for awhile.
I read Alice, I Think a few years ago, and I still love it!

Belle Aire: I couldn't believe that Handcuffs was already available! Usually it takes a little longer before the book is out for circulation. With Paper Towns, I was in the first group of patrons to request it and we had to wait about 2 weeks before we could pick it up for check out. Guess I got lucky this time.
Glad you liked Alice, I Think and The Adoration...Hopefully I will get to review them soon. Thanks for visiting!
I am envious of your library as well! Mine pretty much sucks.
Are You Alone in the House? is so incredibly creepy! I loved it.
I actually got Are You Alone in the House? Alice, I Think, And All's Fair...from the middle school library where I teach. I am hoping to book talk them because that will be one of my students' upcoming book projects. The other is to create new book covers with cover art, blurbs, author info, and reviews.
what awesome books! I am so jealous of your library!
I know! I thought my old library in Kentucky was awesome, but it has nothing on the one here in GA. I don't know what I am going to do if we have to move from here.
As a middle school teacher and ya lit lover, I thought you might want to know about The Picnic Basket blog (www.thepicnic-basket.com). We send free books to teachers and librarians; you just share your comments with our online community. CHAINS is one of the books that have been featured (enjoy reading it) -
Thanks, Deborah for providing me with the info. I will definitely check it out!
Hope you like The Day I Killed James! :) And yay! Glad your library had Jenna Fox. I'm excited for the book club chat.
Chelsea: Thanks so much! I'm sure I'll love James and Jenna Fox. Yay for book club! I'm excited too!
